Stitch Class week 2

Our second week finds our group has grown from two to five. We have moved to a cosy corner of Llandudno library, with plenty of table space to work.

Having learned straight stitch in week one, we have moved on to add another Boro stitch. it’s like cross stitch. Easy right?

As usual we are practicing stitching on old, discarded or recycled fabric. Everyone has brought their own fabric swatches, scissors, threads & needles. I’m fascinated how everyone interprets the stitch in their own unique way.

If you practice this stitch with a number of threads & particularly different strands of threads, each will give a different impression. Some of us have added other elements to the fabric.

Next week we practice a small stitch which is densely stitched into the fabric. English textile artists and embroiders would call it seeding stitch. We will overlay it with fine threads.
